Damp and foggy. Good running weather. Went out too fast, but pulled it back towards the end.
Brain drain or just plain stressed out?
Some useful tips here, although nothing particularly new. Always good to see things in black and white; reminds you how important regaining perspective can be.

An intriguing view of where the world of information and media could go by the year 2014.
More Google map mashups
- I saw MailboxMap a few months ago; a great mashups that helps you locate USPS mail boxes and post offices, and lists the pickup times. Since I know the details for most of the mail boxes near where I live it was interesting but not immediately useful. However, the other day I in a new part of town and needed a post box with an early pickup. Voila, MailboxMap comes to the rescue!
- BestParking.com finds daily and monthly parking in Boston, New York or Philadelphia.
- Walk Score rates neighborhoods for their walk-ability based on proximity to grocery stores, restaurants, movie theaters, schools, libraries, etc. Seems more useful for towns or suburbs than living here in Boston (which rates a near perfect 98).
Stuff used to be valuable, and now it’s not
A great article on how the more stuff you have, the more it begins to own you:
I have too much stuff. Most people in America do. In fact, the poorer people are, the more stuff they seem to have. Hardly anyone is so poor that they can’t afford a front yard full of old cars.

Simple, but effective, LON/LAT mashup on Yahoo! Maps. It would be even more useful if it presented the location in d-m-s format also…

Who knew there was so much to write about shoelaces? It’s true, you really can find anything on the interweb these days.

Those that know me, know I’ve had a long standing love for Patagonia gear. It’s simple, functional, and durable. Their recycling efforts, and desire to highlight environmental causes, just add to the goodness.
111th Boston Marathon
This weekend is the 111th running of the Boston Marathon. The weather certainly looks like it will be a factor this year (isn’t it always?) with rain, and maybe even snow, predicted for what will be a cold race day.
Blaine Moore, at Run to Win, has a post on where the name “Heartbreat Hill” comes from. As part of his post, he’s used one of my photos from flickr taken on the day Dean Karnazes was in Boston during the Endurance 50. I’m flattered!
Good luck to everyone running this coming Monday! Hopefully there will be no broken hearts this year.

I always wanted to know how to do this.

It’s scary to think that a CTO — that’s Chief Technology Officer — doesn’t view the network infrastructure as a significant part of their offering.
