In the same week that Yahoo offers copy-free music (albeit a Jessica Simpson track), Slim Devices announce their audiophile digital audio player, the Transporter. The later looks like a very slick device, if a little on the expensive side. But I still don’t think it’ll make Ms. Simpson sound any better …
For many years I resisted the lure of Amazon as I really didn’t see the point in buying books or music online when I could go to the local book shop, browse and pick up what I needed. The experience was more comforting and the instant gratification beat waiting a week for it to ship. The cost saving for buying online just wasn’t enough, and was often offset by the shipping costs. I’ve been playing around with HiveMind, which seems like a very powerful framework for building applications. News I missed from last week about a tornado that swept through Westchester County in New Yor last week. More specifically, it hit the office park that I used to work in when I lived down there!
Oh, and for those pundits who say it wasn’t a real tornado, well even the New York Times made it official:
The storm - not officially designated as a tornado until Thursday - touched down in central Westchester about 4 p.m. Wednesday with winds that at times exceeded 150 miles per hour, making it stronger than many of the tornadoes that sweep through the Midwest.
