Swim across the Atlantic Ocean (3,462 mi)

Try asking Google maps for directions from Boston, MA to London, England. The Google Maps team, once again, proves it has a great sense of humour.

Update: I wonder why they route you via France first?

Retro nostalgia

Monday, October 2nd, 2006

In an age of digital music downloading, RIAA law suits over DRM and copyright, and the seemingly ubiquitous iPod, this site which lets you build an image of your customised cassette tape, made me nostalgic.

I remember copying albums, then using Letraset letters to do the labels to make them look good. I probably still have some in a shoebox somewhere.

The endless debates over the best blank tapes to buy, and the much coveted TDK ones with it’s metal case.

Garage Band? Pah, I remember taking cassettes apart and hand splicing sections of tape together to make loops and reverse sections of music.

Ah, those were the days … and it’s not that long ago I’ll have you know!

Little people street art

Friday, September 29th, 2006

For some reason I stumbled across this photoblog of street art and it stuck a chord (it is Friday afternoon afterall). Really clever little (groan!) project. I wonder how long they’ll last? Or some dog will come along and eat them (as dog’s do)? Would make for a great 1950’s style b-movie if you could film it: “Attack of the Giant Chihuahua”.
